A Day After
A Day After, virtual environment, 2025, Tonio Mundry
Shown in the group exhibition On the Edge of the Horizon (Radiance VR & Blueshift, online, 2025). Editions: objkt.com.
A Day After comprises two elements: a painted section of seven hand-painted textures, and an interactive multimedia piece set in a virtual environment. In the space between them, a solitary figure walks through architectural fragments, etching memories onto each step, moving continuously. The 3D-scanned buildings act as field recordings of my own memories — appearing fragmented, dissolving at their edges, held in a dreamlike, dystopian setting.
As in my earlier work, the translation between analog and digital stays visible and deliberately imperfect: the scan is not a faithful record but an unreliable, emotionally charged memory. The painted textures and the walkable environment belong to the same image — the hand and the scanned data body meeting in one continuous, post-natural landscape.
